This section thanks (in alphabetical order) those people who had a significant impact on the book's look and/or content -- the "front line" people. These are the people who gave themselves in many ways, never with an eye for their own benefit, but rather, always trying to help the progress of The Shape Under the Sheet in any way they could. Friends like these enrich your life…and I am honored to have had such support and help from the following angels:

RAY REXER, the creator of the now-defunct Castle Rock parody newsletter, Castle Schlock. How can I describe Ray for those of you who are not familiar with him or his work? Well, let me try this approach: If Ray were a Loser, he'd be Richie Tozier. If Ray were a TV show, he'd be "Late Night with David Letterman." If Ray were a pizza, he'd be a large scrambled egg, double cheese, anchovies…and coconut. If Ray were an animal, he'd be a platypus. If Ray were a movie, he'd be "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." If Ray were a rock and roll band, he'd be Devo. Get the picture? I thought so. Many thanks to Ray for his help with The Shape, for his terrific short story, and for the late, great Castle Schlock.

"Stuck in the Middle with You": A Middle Name Quiz

Quiz 94

Introduction by Stephen Spignesi

The late Ray Rexer, one of our Celebrity Guest Quizmasters, was a Stephen King fan of the highest order. He was the creator and publisher of Castle Schlock: The Stephen King Parody Newsletter, and was also a contributor to my book, The Shape Under the Sheet: The Complete Stephen King Encyclopedia.

Ray loved quizzes, puzzles, and games. You might say that Ray was "Raysed" on quizzes. (But then again, you might not.) He had a legendary sense of humor, and I am proud to also feature Ray in the volume.

This quiz originally appeared in the February 1989 issue of Castle Rock: The Stephen King Newsletter, and it appears here thanks to the kindness and support of Ray's widow.
